Electronic vs. digital signatures
This tool adds a visual electronic signature — an image of your signature on the page — which is what most everyday agreements accept and what the U.S. ESIGN Act and the EU eIDAS regulation call a simple electronic signature. It is not a certificate-based digital signature that cryptographically seals the file; those need an identity certificate and are on the roadmap.
Getting it right
Set the signature width in points (150 pt ≈ 2 inches) before clicking. Each click places another copy, so initialing several pages is quick; Undo removes the last one on the current page. The edges of your drawing are trimmed automatically so the signature sits where you click.
Privacy
Your signature image never leaves the browser and is not stored after you close the tab.
Questions about Sign PDF
Is a signature made this way legally binding?
For many agreements in the US and EU, a simple electronic signature is valid when both parties intend to sign. Some documents (wills, notarized deeds) need more; check the rules that apply to you.
Can I save my signature for next time?
Not yet — nothing is stored on purpose. Keep a PNG of your signature and place it with Annotate PDF.
Can others edit my signature after signing?
It is part of the page content. To discourage changes, Protect PDF with editing disabled.
Can I sign on a phone?
Yes. The signature pad accepts a finger or stylus, and tapping the page places the signature. Use the page arrows to reach the signature line on later pages.
