Duplex printing tip

When a booklet has an odd number of pages, the next document in a print run starts on the back of the last sheet. Adding one blank page at the end fixes that. Adding a blank after every page gives a “notes” copy for students or reviewers.

Page size

“Same as neighbour page” copies the visible size of the page the blank is placed after (or before, at the start), so a landscape spread gets a landscape blank. You can also force A4, Letter or Legal.

Making room for notes

“After every page” turns a slide deck into a handout with a blank note page behind each slide. “After specific pages” takes a list such as 3, 8, 12, which is how you add a separator before each chapter. With “Same as neighbour page” each blank copies the size of the page it follows, so a landscape slide gets a landscape blank.

Need more than one step? The Workbench runs Insert blank pages together with other operations on the same file in one go — for example merge → compress → protect.

Questions about Insert blank pages

Can I insert pages from another PDF instead of blanks?

Use Merge PDF for that, then Reorder pages to place them.

Are blank pages counted when I add page numbers?

Yes — page numbering counts every page in the file, including inserted blanks.

Can I insert several blanks at once?

Set “How many blank pages” — up to 50 per position.

Why does the blank page look slightly different in size?

If you picked A4, Letter or Legal instead of matching the neighbour, the new page uses that exact paper size. Mixed sizes are valid in PDF, but some printers then scale pages differently — pick “Same as neighbour page” to avoid it.
