- ExtractDownload images one by one or as a ZIP.
What counts as an image
Only raster images stored in the PDF are extracted — photos, scanned pictures, bitmap logos. Charts and illustrations drawn with vector paths are not images; capture them with PDF to JPG / PNG instead. Each image is saved once even if it repeats on many pages.
Resolution and color
Images are decoded by pdf.js, which handles JPEG, JPEG 2000, CCITT fax, Flate and other encodings and converts CMYK to RGB. You get each image at its native pixel size, shown next to the file name.
Recovering photos from a brochure
If you only have the PDF of a brochure or report but need its photos, this tool saves the pictures embedded in it at their stored resolution — often higher than what you see on screen. Set a minimum size to skip icons and decorative bullets. If a picture is built from vector shapes rather than a bitmap, it is not an “image” to the PDF; capture that page with PDF to JPG / PNG instead.
Questions about Extract images
Why are some images missing?
They are probably vector graphics, or smaller than the size limit — lower it to 1 to get everything.
Does it extract transparency?
Alpha masks are applied when you save as PNG.
Can I extract images from a scan?
A scanned page is one big image, so you get one image per page.
In which format are the images saved?
Choose PNG for lossless copies — best for screenshots, charts and anything with transparency — or JPEG for smaller photo files. Each image is named after the page it came from, and several images download together as a zip.
